If you are writing about Domination/submission, your Dom is supposed to dominate his or her partner, who submits. Your Dom is the dominant, his/her partner is the submissive.  To sum up, Dominate or submit, *a* Dominant or *a* submissive. I know, verbs, adverbs, so confusing. But words, who knew? Not interchangeable.

I seem to have acquired a number of Rider-Waite decks. This one is my favorite.

Sometimes beginners' luck is a real and wonderful thing. I began my collection by buying the Londa (click "more samples") and the Aquarian (click) decks for myself. But the Rider-Waite is a classic, and I thought I should probably have a R-W deck for study. It didn't actually appeal to me visually and I felt I'd be satisfied with a used deck. I was casually cruising ebay, and ran across the University Books edition. Packaged in a brown slipcase box, the card backs feature wavy pink stripes on white, centered with a dark pink rectangle surrounding a pink ankh. Eight bucks and shipping, and it was mine.

RWS university books
That's the slipcase on the right, up there in the first pic. The card on the reverse of the slipcase was missing, but some research showed it was supposed to be the Empress. A friend scanned the Empress card from this deck and printed it onto card stock for me (made a couple of copies--more later), and I trimmed it, using the original card as template, and glued the copy in place on the slipcase.

The cards were in pristine condition, showed absolutely no wear, as if they'd never, or rarely, been used. The only damage to the slipcase, other than missing the Empress card, was normal shelf wear.

Ubooks RW slipcaseUbooks RW slipcase end 2rider-waite pink stripes and anhkA few cards from this edition--shown with a regular style box.

A while later, I bought a one of a kind designer tarot bag from an online vendor, and was surprised to find a used R-W deck inside. "For crafting," the designer wrote. In case I wanted to cut or glue the cards to a craft project of my own, since it was an incomplete deck. I went through the deck, obviously worn, but cared for, as it was slightly "soft", but not dirty or stained. And the only card missing was...the Empress. So I scanned the blue-black hatched plaid design on the back of this deck, and carefully cut and glued it to the extra copy of the Empress card my friend had made me, et voila! Another complete R-W deck.

Over time I accumulated a Universal Waite deck, a Giant Rider-Waite, a mini R-W, and even a Tarot of the New Vision, which is the R-W images, viewed from the back of each scene. And then another friend who has an ebay store gave me a boxed R-W she had found somewhere, again as "scrap", an incomplete deck. I checked carefully--all the cards are there. A little cleaning where needed, a little mending and reinforcing of the box with clear tape, a little cleansing of this deck and the surprise bagged deck, and my three "used" Rider-Waite decks are home and happy. I may find other, newer, better homes for the last two eventually. But the UBooks edition stays with me.

H made oatmeal-walnut-cranberry cookies, and brought me one with tea. Please take note, this is *neither* a thermos, nor a mug!

When it's very cold, H makes me tea and brings it in a thermos, with a mug to drink from. I have to be proactive and beat him to the stove to use my tea things.

I feel like hammered crap today, so I decided to pamper myself a little. I've had the tea cozy for years and years, a never-used gift. It actually fits pretty nifty on the brown betty pot with the downturned spout. The cup and saucer is Rosina, the pattern known only as "4951." The oak leaves and acorns, daisies, apples, and pears are personally symbolic. It took me years to track down this wily teacup, and I enjoy using it.

H called from his room after surgery last night, all fuzzy and loopy. The good drugz, he haz 'em. The surgeon was supposed to call me and give me details, but he somehow neglected to do so. But the patient himself reports that all went well. He's being discharged probably around noon today, no doubt with an admonition to stay off ladders at least until he's healed.

Thanks so much for all the well-wishes and good thoughts, we both appreciate them.

I missed my second day window. This is a S2 fic, but S3 had started airing before I managed to finish and get it posted. Late again, story of my life.

This time I got fed up and posted a comment (harsh, but enough is enough):

This is ridiculous.

Sooo many sock accounts with bad fics, awful manips and you put up more, WHY?

We KNOW about all the sock accounts!
Is this some social experiment? A study? A thesis? WHAT?!
The same bad writing style, the same bad manip style, the same annoying posting style in EVERY. DAMN. COMM. EVERY. DAMN. DAY!

We know that there is most probably some copyrigth violation going on too so if you personally aren't Misha Collins trolling this fandom then please, PLEASE STOP!

Stop writing, stop with the numerous sock accounts, stop commenting on yourself, stop posting, stop creating communities, stop giving yourself awards from yourself, just stop!

Come out and say what you want already! Do you want us to take a survey to complete your study or something?

WHAT?! What do you want?!
Tell us and go. Away!

As a response my comment got screened.
I decided to send a message:

So what is it that you want?
Don't be a coward and tell us and we will leave you alone.

(By "we" I mean this fandom because I know that there are a lot of people that would like to say something to him/her at this point.)
So far no response.

Plus so many people just can't be retarded in the exactly same way and have the same problems while posting all the time (fonts, sizes, colors,...).

Add to that the evergrowing amount of new annoying communities like the_male_room, spn_spankbank, jensenmmfic, rps_fanfiction and branching out into new fandoms with communities like hemlockgroveff, matt_bomer_rps, chrisevansrps,...
They've also got their off lj archive pervylit fic, which they promote with journals like pervyfreak, hunterj86 & candykitten88 and encourage people to join to see more and send them their work (which sounds like a scam from miles away).

The site is loaded with advertising, which makes it look like they're trying to turn a profit off of hosting fanfic. They aren't big on answering questions there either, Someone left a comment on the rules back in january and they still haven't gotten a reply.

If it was possible I would demand all the communities this person posts into to ban them...but for now I will just add this nice little repost button so anybody who feels like it can spread the list and edit the entry to add the sock names I missed and complete the list.

On our drive today, spring was assaulting all the senses: new green leaves, fruit trees and ornamentals in flower, blue skies, white clouds, bird song, chuckling streams falling down hillsides, the springtime odor of dilute cow manure sprayed over cropfields, remaining on the air till the aroma of skunk cabbage superceded it, and lingered until the battered old diesel truck full of saplings in pots pulled out ahead of us and farted a gentle eddy of black cloud in its wake.

Missed my LJ-versary by two days! It's a milestone, too--ten years. Lotsa changes to LJ, and to my life, in ten years, but we're both still here. So many friends found, a few lost along the way, so much discussion of topics from important social and political ones to trivial matters of nail polish and tea things, so much fannish discovery and discourse, meta and art and fic, in so many fandoms. My life would be so very vastly different without the influence LJ and the people I've gotten to know here have had on it, on me.

For all its disturbing and frustrating changes, LJ always holds a special place in my affections. I almost can't quite dare hope our love affair will last another decade, but I can't *not* have that hope, either. Happy Anniversary to us!

OOps! Overshot my DW-versary by two weeks!

Dreamwidth's four, and I've been here four years. It seems like forever, and not that long, the way the best friendships are. I'm glad to be here, and I'm glad Dreamwidth is such a kickass place to be. Long may both of us wave!
Ahem.

1. A drug is a naturally-occuring or artificially manufactured chemical or chemical compound which alters body chemistry.

The past tense of drag is dragged.

2. There is no definition for snuck. No such word exists.

The past tense of sneak is sneaked.

3. Lead is a soft, greyish metal that has been used since it's prehistorical discovery to make or line plumbing pipes, to alloy metals used to make drinking and serving pieces, as a coloring agent and base for paints and pottery glazes, and other uses, prior to discovering the deleterious effects prolonged exposure has on the human body. It is not widely used anymore, particularly in uses that will affect humans or animals.

The past tense of the verb "to lead" is led.

Thank you for your attention. That is all.
