Missed my LJ-versary by two days! It's a milestone, too--ten years. Lotsa changes to LJ, and to my life, in ten years, but we're both still here. So many friends found, a few lost along the way, so much discussion of topics from important social and political ones to trivial matters of nail polish and tea things, so much fannish discovery and discourse, meta and art and fic, in so many fandoms. My life would be so very vastly different without the influence LJ and the people I've gotten to know here have had on it, on me.

For all its disturbing and frustrating changes, LJ always holds a special place in my affections. I almost can't quite dare hope our love affair will last another decade, but I can't *not* have that hope, either. Happy Anniversary to us!

We started around the same time! When I saw your post, I checked my own creation date out of curiosity, and it turns out I just missed my 10 year LJ-iversary, too. Where did that decade go??

As to your question, um, I have no idea. And truthfully, it's a decade I wouldn't want to live over again. It's much nicer on this side.

I am so with you there. Except, I would definitely not invest all my retirement money in the stock market in 2007...

Monroe and Rosalee have been the most consistently awesome thing on my TV this year. I'm so glad I stuck in there with that show!

I have a fb account which I use to keep tabs on geoghraphically distant (not emotionally distant, or biologically distant) relatives, but I never post there. And I really only have a twitter account for rumor verification purposes, I never post there either. I'm here, or on Tumblr, or DW, and a couple of much smaller subject-specific sites. LJ has been my fannish home, and probably will remain so. I'm tickled you're my friend! &hearts to you, too!

The cottage was built in the Cotswolds in the 17th century. When Henry and Clara Ford visited England, she was so taken with the traditional Cotswold architecture that Henry bought a cottage to have it disassembled, shipped, and reassembled on their estate so she could have tea with her friends in a "traditional English" setting. (When you're the richest man in the world, you can do things like that.) When he founded Greenfield Village, he included the cottage in it, but the outdoor tea room has only been there for the last few years.

Happy Anniversary! I just realized my LJ turned 10 somewhere in March, but we didn't find and friend each other until I discovered the wonderful song "When I Go."

Oh, btw, saw this on Facebook and immediately thought of you -

I saw that on Tumblr last night! I was cheering the octopus on--it must be excruciating trying to navigate with the lack of buoyancy trying to flatten you. So I was really happy to see him or her find the water and swim away. Nice of the shrimpers to let him/her go.

I remember us bonding over that song, and over other things later. You're one of the people who make LJ home for me.
