I seem to have slept a large part of the day. Not that there's anything wrong with that. Apparently I needed it. H caulked around the frame where we installed the new AC unit, where the pullout sides don't quite meet the sides of the window, after he'd drilled and screwed them, underneath, anywhere we could see daylight shining through. We have an abundance of wasps around this house, I'd rather not provide them with an easy entrance into my bedroom.
The new unit is very much quieter than the old one, and it has a remote, which, not really useful in an 8x14 foot room. The only thing I don't like is the bright green digital temp readout...I feel like I'm trying to fall asleep in an inadequately shielded spaceship, or something. Icky green light. I alleviated it somewhat by opening the blinds to whatever moonlight, starlight, and ambient light from the icky blue yard light next door. Okay, is night ever just dark, anymore?
Sigh. Neither of us got any of our projects done, and still? Can't get too worked up about it. We'll probably go see the Chronicles of Riddick at the early matinee tomorrow, and since we blew through all three Netflix choices this evening, will be reduced to actually working a bit tomorrow evening. The old AC unit is on the breezeway downstairs, and the plan was for H to go through his closet and his piles o' crap to cull anything someone else might find useful, and take it down to join the AC, and then call the Vietnam Vets to come pick it up next week.
We may have to wait another week. Oh, well. We want to see HP3, too, but maybe next week the crowds and kids will have subsided a bit. I really hate we can't do mid-week matinees together anymore, but his work hours don't permit.
StY came over on Wednesday, since it was his day off and he needed to pick up some stuff. While he was here, I fired up Serenity. He'd only ever seen part of Shindig when Firefly was airing, and has never seen any of the other eps. He was all into it, and when it was over, he was shaking his head, incredulous. "That was great! They cancelled this? What're they, morons? Can we borrow the dvds?"
No! But you both come over one night a week and we'll burn through them, how about that? I'm just pleased as can be that the RoS and Sharpe dvds are safe from him, since they only have a Region 1 player. Heh.
And in other news, I suck. I have a birthday parcel that was supposed to go to Canada last week--the birthday's on the 12th, and I missed the 5:00 pickup. It's all together, but I have to giftwrap some of the stuff, pack and seal and address the box, and take it to the PO, yadda, and so on. Monday, fer shure.
