The Naming of Names

1) Your LJ user name--how did you come up with it, where did it come from? And do you have a different pseud for writing/lists/whatever? How do you decide when to use which?

My dad's name, plus a letter. It's different from my b.org name, which is the same with slight modifications at PF and TT and WX.

2) Any stories about how your family chose your RL first/middle names? Is there something you were *almost* named until saner heads prevailed?

Mom wanted something that sounded like "Velvet" for my first name. And when I was 12, I was really upset with her that she hadn't actually named me Velvet, since I loved National Velvet, and I thought it was prettier than what she actually decided on. Nobody I knew, except an adult male, shared my name as a child and I hated it. My middle name was a feminization of my dad's name, but with an odd spelling.

3) What's the coolest name you've encountered (either real or pseud), one you really wish you had?

That's hard, there are so many apt ones it's hard to choose between them all. So I opt not to!
