I was a dutiful daughter and daughter in law today. I left the perfect card and a Whitmans' sampler for my mom--she'd been hinting all week about the candy. I also promised to plant flowers in her concrete planter on the front steps. I got a sweet call from my elder child. Nothing from the younger, but he'll make it up when he has a chance, he was probably working. We drove two hours to the MIL's, had a nice visit, and a two hour drive back. We took the scenic route, rather than the interstate--and it was just as quick a trip, but much more enjoyable. Look! open land, ooooh, how long has it been since we've seen undeveloped pastureland, and farmland under cultivation. Not to mention woods thick enough you can't see daylight out the other side.

And we watched the extended version of FotR when we got home. Which reminded me of this quiz. I took it again, changed where I'd want to live from "waterfalls and vistas" to "plains" and movies from "epic" to "action" and got Rohirrim. Big surprise there.
