I'm a bit spotty online this week because we have the ten-year-old staying for a few days. He's trying to make friends with the cat, watching dvds, and videos in his room, and glorying in being an only kid for a few days. Today was the Indian restaurant for lunch and Pirates of the Caribbean, interspersed with a bit of necessary erranding, followed by dinner from a can and more LotR on dvd. Tomorrow will be lunch with his uncle and a trip to Blades by Brown to look at and handle the LotR swords and other weapons, followed by a visit to the uncle's house, where he will be able to pet the cat and dog who actually enjoy being petted. And mom and dad and the three-year-old arrive on Saturday for lunch and to take him home. School starts next week. Bummer.
But. Meanwhile, I try not to argue with my wee houseguest over the dvd remote. Just because I've watched Sharpe dvds every day this week, until yesterday. And just because TTYO didn't want to watch the extended version of FotR and I didn't get to see Boromir, and I'm apparently suffering Bean withdrawal--that's no reason to wrestle the little Visigoth to the ground and take the remote by force. Is it?
H and I are already making plans for Sunday--just the two of us. A drive on the Parkway, always a favorite. Or if the weather's nasty, a matinee of Whale Rider. (And maybe a viewing of FotR)
