Okay, I'm answering this thing I stole from [livejournal.com profile] dxmachina

1. What's your full name?
I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. Protect the innocent, all that.

2. Were you named after anyone?
My dad.

3. Do you wish on stars?
Occasionally. And hear Jiminy Cricket in my head.

4. Which finger is your favorite?
Index. It's so dextrous and so sensitive, so much more than the others. It's also the workhorse of the hand, especially for typing and writing, and I'm getting a bit of wear and stiffness in mine these days.

5. When did you last cry?
Yesterday. Sappy movie.

6. Who do you admire?
Friends who are politically and socially active at the local level. Handing out blankets on cold nights and teaching parenting classes to teenagers for free.

7. What is the #1 priority in your life?
A threat to my family or friends will mobilize me. More generally, a threat to animals and/or small children.

8. Your favorite lunch meal?
Homemade salad of romaine, spinach, red and green curly lettuce, chopped boiled egg, fresh sliced baby 'bellas, shredded red cabbage, carrot, and cheddar or mozzie, topped with sliced grilled chicken, coarse black pepper, grated parm and raspberry vinaigrette. In a vat-sized bowl. Alternatively, prosciutto strips wound around canteloupe slices.

9.Any bad habits?
Procrastination, laziness, staying up too late, ignoring work to surf web. DX's are good. I'll add a hatred of physical exercise, and a concurrent love of sweets and simple carbs, together spelling catastrophe.

10. What store would you never be caught dead in?
Any trendy boutique

11. If you were another person, would you be friends with you?
Yep. I'm a barrel o' laughs, loyal, brave and true. Not a backstabber, but sometimes boring--but see? Then you get to be the star!

12. Are you a daredevil?
Not at the moment. Well, I'm an...acrobatic...driver. Good. Safe. Aware. But a leeetle bit flashy.

13. Do looks matter?
Yes, to my chagrin I buy into the whole beauty=good, ugly=evil mythos. I don't want to, I'm always consciously leaning the other way, which actually results in my being suspicious of everybody.

14. What is your favorite piece of clothing?
black tank top. Comfeeeee.

15. When was the last time you wanted to punch someone?
This afternoon, when Mom left the front door, facing into a 90+ degree afternoon, wide open. And then, not punch. More grab her shoulders and shake her. Because she does it almost every day, and she never remembers we discussed it, and it's just my problem really, so I'll shut up about it.

16. Are you trendy?
Oh, no. I work hard not to be.

17. What do you do to prevent anger?
If I can't laugh about it, turn it on myself and make a joke, if it's my problem, I'll walk away. If it's something that needs to be addressed, harmful behavior to a child or an animal, I'll use it. I hate confrontation, I don't do it well. But I can't NOT confront an abuser to prevent damage, and I have managed to get a hold on the anger to find courage. Of course, afterward I fall apart into little blubbering pieces. But that's better than the self-loathing that comes from allowing the behavior to continue unchallenged. If it's someone else's anger, I'll make a fool of myself to make them laugh. Funny faces, food fight. If I'm angry and I'm right, I'll walk away and think it through and rehearse and refine until I can discuss it rationally. No yelling matches. Nothing gets resolved.

18. Are you passive or aggressive?
Mostly passive. Pacific, in fact. But provoked? Oh, giant PITA passive-agressive. I have an advanced degree in PA, and not proud of it.

19. Who is your idol?
Don't have one. Ghandi, I suppose is closest.

20. Who is your second family?
The Buffistas. (DX again. Works for me)

21. Do you trust others easily?
See, I've known since early on I am SO gullible. So, over time, I trained myself to doublethink, so I wouldn't be gullible. So I was all, "Really!? Oh. You're probably making that up. I don't believe you." But then I got tired of being suspicious all the time, so I decided to just take people at face value, but with a grain of salt. More like, "Really? How nice for you, if it works out, you know." Happier now.

22. What did you play with as a child?
Dolls. My spring horse. Bicycle. Tinkertoys. Booksbooksbooksbooks. Tea sets. Books.

23. What class during high school was a waste of time?
Algebra. Taught by the JV football coach, who decidedly didn't speak girl.

24. Do you like sappy love songs?
Most, no. Some, well, yeah.

25. have you ever been on radio or television?
Yes, I did voiceover work for the community college where I worked, for their commercials.

26. Have you ever intentionally hurt someone?
Yes. Not proud of it. Not particularly ashamed, either. At the time, I felt they deserved it.

27. Have you ever been in a mosh pit?
No, and never hope to be, thanks.

28. Do you feel understood most of the time?
Does anybody? Of course as I mature I find I'm less concerned with being understood and more interested in understanding.

29. Sore throat or stomach flu?
No such thing as stomach flu. Influenza affects the respiratory system. I get viral gastric upsets, and food sensitivity issues. I also have allergy-related PND, causing sore throats. Life IS pain, princess.

30. What are your nicknames?
Dad: Stinker, squirt. Aunt: Bevvie. College: Wendy. Had to do with my dictatorial ways getting a set built. "We'll be quiet as a mouse and build a lovely little house for Wennndee..." Post-college: Natasha. Was dating a Boris. Lately? Wendy has stuck with some people.

31. Could you be a vegetarian?
Easily, before the high-protein no-carb necessity. We had actually discussed raising/hunting our own meat, to avoid steroids and antibiotics and cannibalistic feeds, also to feel better ethically about eating an animal that had a life before it became freezer fodder. I have no problem hunting for food (never sport!), using a humane killer, or the actual butchering of a carcass. But I abhor factory farms, and I think many serious illnesses can and eventually will be traced to their practices.

32. Would you ever bungee jump?
I will climb the highest thing you can find for me to climb, as long as it is steady and neither sways nor swings. Do NOT get my feet off a solid surface if you don't want me dissolving into a gibbering, dangerous lunatic.

33. Do you untie your shoes every time you take them off?
Yes, I'm an AR freak.

34. What are you worried about right now?
Politics. My health, H's health. Finances.

35. Do you ever wear overalls?
I've never been able to figure out why I should wear something I have to shuck nearly completely for a bathroom call.

36. Your favorite Popsicle flavor?
Fudgicle

37. Who do you think won't respond at all?
To this? Should I care? To me? Their loss.

38. What kind of pets do you have?
Three-legged former feral rescue cat. Sweet boy. Fuzzbutt.

39. Do you have a driver's license?
Yes.

40. Last person who called you?
Son the Younger

H

42. The last person you had a drink with?
H

43. Last person you went to the movies with?
H (I gotta get out more!)

44. Last person you went to the mall with?
Laura

45. Do you have a crush on anyone?
Not at the moment. I'm crushgirl, though, so it won't be long. Does the entire cast of Firefly count?

46. What's in your wallet?
Credit cards, grocery store "member" cards (three stores), receipts. I have a separate small purse for cash.

47. What's on your walls of your room?
Living room--Etchings we brought back from Germany: from Nurnberg, Heidelburg, Marksburg, Rothenburg. Vincent poster from Beauty and the Beast, and my pencil sketch of Vincent. Boromir with Horn of Gondor calendar page (from JessPMoon), Spitzweig print, "The Bookworm," a marquetry chessboard made by a friend, and a motheaten velvet hanging of a windswept woman, on a horse with a Really Thick Neck, her arm aloft to offer a perch to a Really Big Dove. A set of small painted wooden shelves displays figures H handpainted, an antique Czech vase, a tiny Satsuma vase and a new Chinese vase, an antique papier mache box molded to look like a stack of leatherbound books, a tooled leather box, and framed family photos. A small peg rack with a shelf supporting a small print of a pair of tattered bears, titled "Forever Friends," a call card for a Timberlake Raggedy Ann & Andy print titled "Friends" and an embroidered bear picture titled "Friends are Forever"--all gifts. From the pegs hang an antique baby's dress, slip, and nightgown, two of Sandy's limited edition first-moulds of the hand-carved and painted Homestead Collection Christmas ornaments, and a beaded moosehide Indian thunderbird necklace from Marlene. There's a group of Raggedy Ann photos cut from magazine ads, Black and Decker, notecards, etc. A print of Winslow Homer's In The Mowing, the cover from a literary magazine, and the magazine cover with my cover story.

48. What size is your bed?
Twin

49. What is in your bedroom?
Two beds, two dressers, nightstand, night table, wall mirror, framed antique postcards found unsent in Grandma's button box, framed Fathers Day certificate, framed composite of headshots from H's army company, framed anniversary card quoting Shakespeare, framed William Henry Channing quote. Moosehead beer sign, a small brass plaque, curved to fit the machine it was removed from, hanging over the beds that reads, "With adequate lubrication this tool should give a long and care-free life. However, in case of seepage discontinue use for a minimum of one hour. Dated this 1st day of January 1873. S. Hay, manager, Victorian Screw Company. Reethmoor, Yorkhire(sic)." Whether it's genuine or not, we never cared. Two wall-mounted lamps and a Discman with two bitty speakers. And one bigass oil painting of ... a window in space, is my interpretation..
