Ah, thanks. I knew someone was a subsidiary of someone else. The local Walden's and Dalton's don't offer a place to sit and page through a sample chapter, and they're in the mall, smallish spaces but not very cozy. I prefer the expanse and the comfy corners of B&N, and Borders second.
Although Scribner's was also in the mall, and I loved it. Low lighting, more room to move around, more care taken with displays, less in-your-face remainders. Atmosphere counts, for me.
