(no subject)

Some mornings when the better course would seem to be just not getting up, even for coffee, what motivates me out of bed is knowing I get to open another day on my Jacquie Lawson Advent calendar. A little sad, but you know, whatever works.

H just went out and bought a whole string of lights just for four replacement bulbs on our "pre-lit" tree--that has two swaths of impenetrable dark. Ooh! One of those just lit up.

Last night's supper was a giant bowl of steamed broccoli dusted with sea salt. Nom! I should do that more often.

I have not done cards. I have not sent the few presents I need to send. We blew off going to the movies this afternoon as neither of us could be arsed to care enough to go. I am overcome with ennui and the urgent need to nap. A brisk walk in the bracing air does not energize, it merely enhances the nappishness. Moar coffee just makes me both jittery *and* nappish, possibly entertaining for the observer. From here, not so much.

Perhaps I should open tomorrow's day on the advent calendar. Or go back and start at Day One again, that might be fun. Or nap. Naaap.

I think the Jacquie Lawson Advent Calendar is wonderful motivation.

Every day I have to play the Christmas Biscuit game, and I've redesigned my snowflakes twice.

Whatever it takes to get you up, honey. (Though naps are not to be underrated. Sometimes they're a necessary thing!)

I always like a bit of vinegar on my broccoli. (It's how we eat it in my family *g* My brother-in-law, nearly 20 years in our family, is still weirded out by it.)

Mmm. Broccoli sounds good, now. Really good, actually.

*hugs you tight*

Cards--Nope.

Presents--Nope, except for one for my boss, because I knew she had gotten something for me, and she's easily hurt (don't get me started). Strong possibility that gifts to family will be late.

Tree--Nope, because of kittiez. Took everything to work last year and set it up there, and it was beautiful. Thought about doing it again, but felt too tired to haul everything in. Boss always wants to help, but she is incredibly impatient, and I am particular. Also, it's my "thing," the thing that I like best, and I don't want anyone "helping" me. If it's not my creation, it might as well be something in a store.

On the other hand, even though I haven't done anything, I still enjoy the hell out of Christmas, and the kittiez and I have been having a lovely time lounging in front of the fire. They even got a card today from the kitty-sitting lady. They have already gnawed on it a bit. :)

But, but but, opening them again in the evening means you get to see the scene all lit up! There's so much to do, flower vases, wreaths and snowflakes and I did trimmed the tree in the family room today and they give you three to do, so I can do another one tonight!

I know, I suppose it is a little sad, but it's such a wonderful little thing to look forward to, I don't think it lets you open a day in advance, but I often go back and make new wreaths or vases and spend far too much time in the pavillion or family room just watching the little critters do something new every day!

I have done my cards, not wrapped any presents, have done a little cleaning, but the fire brasses need doing next and no way am I energised enough to start those today. Oh dear, the lights in the demi-john have fused, oops, guess they'll stay dark this year.

I keep waiting to get hit by 'the Christmas spirit' - does it drive a truck by any chance? Christmas gets harder every year.

No cards either but I did manage to get my Christmas shopping done, which was an utter nightmare, btw. have you decorated your tree?
I love stir-fried broccoli and I LOVE sea salt! Napping is always good although I try to avoid because I'm the world's worst insomniac.

*hugs and love* ♥
