Stolen. Is there any other way?

1. If you had to choose an alias, what would it be?

Bizi Locke

2. Where were you on 9/11?

At home. I turned on the tv, and thought the footage of the first plane was some sort of weird tv movie, and watched as the second plane hit. I watched ABC and Jennings for about 24 hours straight, finally got hold of MIL to find out that BIL in Manhattan was fine. And then realized I had to quit watching.

3. What is your ideal vacation?

Walking tour of European cities. Or the bike tours where you cycle through countryside to the next town, in Europe, especially Provence, or England.

4. How many first cousins do you have?

Nice thing, really nice thing about being adopted? I'm not fettered with extended family. I like it that way.

5. How do you take your pizza?

Oooh! Medium crust, thickish but not deepdish. Layer of mozzie, spinach, broccoli, fresh portabellas, sliced tomatoes, onion, black olives, romano, ricotta, parmesan and more mozzie. Urrgghhh, umm, yummmy!

6. If you could be fluent in any foreign language (that you are not already) what would it be?

Gaelic

7. What is your favorite website?

b.org

8. If you could experience another era of history, which would it be?

1920s to 1950s NYC, and European cities.

9. What is your favorite genre of movies?

Most of it is crap, but Peter Jackson got mythic fantasy right.

10. If you could have any one superpower, what would it be?

Being able to fly would be really fun, and it's so tempting. But really? Teleportation. I'd never have to endure Point A to Point B again! Travel for the journey is all very well. But when I have to be somewhere I'm not thrilled about going? Just get me there and get it over, and get me out.

11. Can you whistle?

Not very well. And I never could do that horse-calling lips over teeth, or fingers-in-mouth sort of piercing whistle, and always wanted to.

12. If you could be any animal for a day, what would it be?

A cat

13. Who is your favorite fictional character?

Lessa in the first two Pern books. Telepathically linked with dragons? Oh yeah.

14. Star Wars or Star Trek?

Oh, now this is hard, 'cause as things stand? Really, neither. Although I suppose Star Wars has more scope. And more budget.

15. What is your favorite beverage?

Australian cab-merlot. Aberlour. Guinness. Water.

16. What brand of toothpaste do you use?

Arm & Hammer tartar control. Paste. Never gel.

17. What is your favorite professional sports team?

Don't have one.

18. Are you "indoorsy" or "outdoorsy"?

In my head? Outdoorsy. All my stories are set pre-industrial revolution, in landscapes empty, for the most part, of humans. And I love walking, hiking, scrambling up easy rock-strewn hillsides, in rain or decent weather. But let's be honest. I'm so nearsighted I'm nearly blind, and I'm a klutz. If I had to survive unsupported in the outdoors I would die so quick.

19. What is your earliest childhood memory?

Waking up to find my visiting uncle had run over my tricycle the night before. I was three. I don't remember the visit, just the broken thing.

20. If you could play any musical instrument, what would it be?

Guitar. Or oboe.

21. What's your favorite accent?

Scots. Or Russian.

22. When you were little, what did you want to be when you grew up?

Horse rancher.

23. Are you a dog person or a cat person?

A cat person. Definitely.

24. If they were making a movie or TV show of your life, who would you choose to play you?

Jennifer Jason Leigh. She's short, quirky, and does introvert really, really well.

25. What is your favorite element (earth, fire, water or air)?

Was going to say water. I do love it. But I think I have to say earth, definitively.

26. If you could compete in any event in the Olympics (summer or winter) what would it be?

Hammer throw.

27. What is your favorite Sunday comic strip?

Rose is Rose

28. What kind of music do you listen to?

I like all sorts, 60s rock, 80s rock, 60s American folk, trad multinational folk, classical--the gamut from Corelli and the 4Bs to Dvorak and Copeland. But I most often play New Age, water sounds, Native American flute, shakuhatchi, Hildegard and Gregorian chants. My mind is such a damned bedlam I need calming music to damp the madness down a bit when I'm trying to work. Other music is for active listening to, not background while doing other stuff.

29. What is your favorite breakfast cereal?

Kashi Go Lean with vanilla Silk

30. What is your worst habit?

Procrastination.

Stolen from serenada, my own Personal New Age Religion

From the most graceful regions of the spiritual plane, I have channeled the disembodied spirit of Effie, bringing to you the wisdom and window of the lost city of Dubrovnik. To usher in the New Age of daffodils you must heed my words and assassinate merely. The time is soon when the space coaches of our galactic cousins will return and our collective swanlikeness will reach critical mass. The highest frequencies of the universe will spiral through the neck chakras of the worthy, and our 3rd ankle shall be opened. But first we must look deep inside and accept our inner hair. We must feel the inner hair, become the inner hair, twist it like it was a skin. We must accept our karmic past, and as our yogi master, Caliban, always says 'The true form of a silk is actually a rough beast , but enlightenment is like a hoary petal on the wind'. For there is no right or wrong, no pistil or anti-pistil, only one great and omnipresent stamen.
